Burrow Selected First Overall by the Cincinnati Bengals

Breaking News Lead

The Cincinnati Bengals have selected former Louisiana State University quarterback Joe Burrow with the first overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Burrow, who led LSU to an undefeated season and a national title in 2019, is considered to be one of the most talented quarterbacks in the draft class. He is expected to be a transformative player for the Bengals, who have struggled in recent years.

Burrow was one of 58 players invited to the 2020 NFL Draft Combine, where he performed well in all of the drills. He ran a 4.63-second 40-yard dash, had a 34-inch vertical jump, and bench-pressed 225 pounds 15 times.

Burrow also impressed scouts with his arm strength, accuracy, and decision-making ability. He is considered to be a pro-ready quarterback who could start for the Bengals immediately.

The Bengals are hoping that Burrow can be the franchise quarterback they have been looking for since Carson Palmer was traded to the Oakland Raiders in 2011. Burrow has all the tools to be a successful quarterback in the NFL, and the Bengals are confident that he can lead them to their first Super Bowl title.

Burrow will join a young and talented Bengals team that includes wide receiver Tee Higgins, running back Joe Mixon, and defensive end Trey Hendrickson. The Bengals are hoping that Burrow can help them compete for a playoff berth in 2020.
